Below is the entry I wrote for Dmasyq. Thought of sharing it here with all of you.
Shollu ‘alal habeeb!!
May each and everyone of us is under Allah's guidance always~
Jaga diri jaga iman, jaga amal.

i hope that everybody is in good health, great shape, both physically and mentally...
and i hope that everybody is doing fine whether you have examinations coming up or finished it..
here's a gentle reminder...
its xmas today, Jesus' birthday as the christians say... but they actually don't have a clue if its true or not.. yet everybody knows about it...
but let us all do something better... instead of remembering people's birthdays and the holidays, lets pay more attention on the sunnah to be done throughout the islamic calender...
its 10 muharram this sunday, 27 december...
the prophet pbuh said that whoever fasts on the 10th of muharram will have his sins of the past year forgiven by Allah..
this sunnah came to be when the prophet moved to Medina from Mecca.. he saw the yahudis fast on the 10th muharram... so he asked them why... and they told him that it is a holy day in which Allah helped Moses pbuh and saved him and his companions from pharoah, so they fast on this day...
then the prophet said that muslims are more obliged to Moses pbuh and this day than the yahudis because muslims believe in Moses pbuh and his teachings while the yahudis don't...
and so the muslims too began fasting on the 10th muharram...
and as we all know.. the prophet pbuh is always doing something different compared to all the ahlul kitab to distinguish the difference between muslims and the rest of the ahlul kitab...
so one day a sahabat-whom i don't remember his name.. pardon me for not being a hafiz.. i write these at the spur of the moment-pointed out to the prophet pbuh that fasting on the 10th muharram only is what the yahudis do... so the prophet answered:"if i could then i would fast on the 9th" or as he said... meaning that the prophet would fast on the 9th and 10th together just to differentiate between the muslims and yahudis... but the prophet passed away that year and didn't have the chance to fast on these days the following year according to this sahabat...
and if we add monday to the list for the monday-thursday sunnah the better... after all.. Muharram is one of the months in which the prophet pbuh fasts in most days...
and there are scholars who said that its better to fast on the 9th, 10th and 11th together...
and in the case of choosing 2 of the 3 days mentioned, fasting on the 9th and 10th together is better than fasting on the 10th and 11th together...
so prove your love to the prophet pbuh like you said you do!
its easy to say things but not doing anything to prove what we say... right...?
so if you could, fast then.... unless those of you who couldn't do so...
PROVE OUR LOVE TO HIM BY PERFORMING THIS SMALL SUNNAH... ONE OF HIS MANY SUNNAH...
Allah knows best...

so to those who haven't read this...
i'd like to present it to you people...
to me it is one of the most interesting things my friend in Medina has ever wrote about...
so here goes...
hope we gain some knowledge from what my friend here wrote..
In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful
All praise be to Allah and may his blessings be upon Rasulullah.
It's amazing how this issue is so 'hot' at the Islamic university of Madinah that we see students get into an unfathomable demur of wether photography or Tasweer is permissible or not. It's a deplorable reality that needs rectification. No doubt, this is due to the lack of knowledge of either party as the saying goes, 'empty vessels makes the most noise'. It's distressing to see brothers impose others to be upon that which even the scholars differ.
To address this issue, i would like to start by mentioning the fact that it is a matter of difference of opinions amongst the scholars. The likes of shaykh Alalbani, shaykh Bin Baz and shaykh Muqbil.. rahmatullaah 'alaihim rahmatan waasiah have prohibited tasweer based on the many hadeeth which state the forbiddence of depicting any live forms. eg the hadith of Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Every image-maker will be in the Fire, and for every image that he made a soul will be created for him, which will be punished in the Fire." Ibn 'Abbaas said: "If you must do that, make pictures of trees and other inanimate objects." (Reported by Muslim, 3/1871)
but there are others amongst the scholars like shaykh ibn uthaymeen, shaykh abdus salam burjies rahmatullah alaihimaa and shaykh abdul aziz ar-rajieh together with many others who expound further on the issue, below is the statement of shaykh ibn uthaymeen rahimahullaah
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said:
With regard to pictures (of Makhluq with soul) made in the modern fashion, they fall into two categories:
The first category is those which have no tangible substance (and can only be seen by running them through a machine), as I was told is the case with pictures on video tapes. There is no ruling at all concerning these, and they do not come under the prohibition at all. Hence the scholars who forbid making pictures with cameras on paper (photographs) permitted this (video pictures), and said that there is nothing wrong with this. Then it was asked, is it permissible to film lectures which are given in the mosques? The (scholarly) view was that it is better not to do that, because it may disturb the worshippers and because they may film things that may not be appropriate, and so on.
The second category is fixed or still pictures on paper (photographs) … But the matter needs further discussion if one wants to make these kind of permissible pictures. For they are subject to five rulings which depend on the intention. If the intention is something forbidden, then it is haraam. If he intends something waajib (obligatory), then it is waajib. Sometimes pictures may be essential, especially moving pictures. For example, if we see someone in the act of committing a crime against a person’s rights, such as an attempt to kill and so on, and we cannot prove it in any way but by taking pictures, then in this case taking pictures becomes waajib, especially in cases where pictures may decide the case. The means are subject to the rulings on the ends. If we make these pictures in order to prove the identity of a person for fear that someone else may be accused of the crime, this is also acceptable, indeed it is essential. But if we take these pictures just to enjoy looking at them, this is undoubtedly haraam... And Allaah knows best.”
(See Al-Sharh al-Mumti’, 2/197-199)
Understand carefully what the shaykh mention above, "those which have no tangible substance" which are the likes of video camera, digital camera are definitely halal or permissible in the opinion of shaykh ibn uthaymeen, infact even if the the picture/photo is tangible then it depends on the niyyah or intention of the photographer if the usage is for that which is waajib then the ruling is waajib unless of course if the picture (of the live form) is being printed and mounted on the wall for frivolous purposes (according to shaykh ibn uthaymeen) is impermissible. Again, there are many other opinions which are way more flexible that this.
I believe this explains the broadness of this issue and upon each and everyone of us to practice what we believe to be right and not impose our personal opinion upon others. If you dislike it then reject it nicely by telling your brothers of your opinion and it does'nt have to turn into an endless commotion of who's right and who's wrong.
May Allah grant us the ability to practice what is right based upon the Quran, sunnah and the opinions of trustworthy scholars.. and may Allah swt protect us from arrogance and ignorance..
and with this i end. Allah knows best.
may peace and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad, All praise be to Allah.

Mati.
Jumud.
Blog ini seakan tidak berpenghuni... :)
Ramadhan Kareem.
WALLAHU akram!
Ni'mah ramadhan di syam..
Walau tanpa keluarga di sisi,
ni'mahnya tetap dirasa.
3.30pagi.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
bunyi pukulan instrument yang seakan kompang kedengaran satu bangunan.
"SAHUR, SAHUR, BANGUN SAHUR DEMI ALLAH!" dilaungkan oleh si pemukul "kompang".
Maka, terbukalah mata-mata yang lelap..
Pagi hari.
Kedai aiskrim? Tutup.
Air? Tutup.
Syawarma ("kebab" ala syria)? Tutup.
Semuanya menghormati bulan Ramadhan..
Menjelang senja.
Jalan raya yang selalunya sesak, tidak lagi.
Lengang.
Hari weekday, ibarat weekend.
Nak terawih setengah jam lepas azan, tapi tetap express?

Masa tu, hatiku berbisik; "nak pergi ngaji??? biar betul... kelakarnya....."
However, syria changed my perspective...
Here, i got to know, that even the best Qari'ah from Singapore Musabaqah tilawatul Qur'an recitation isn't perfect.
Yes, we do know tajweed.. We did learn it, but that was far from basics. We learned the hukum of Nun Sakinah and Mim Sakinah, mudud, but that's it.. Are we exacly aware of Makhaarijul Huruf? How many makhraj are there actually? Do we know sifaatul huruuf? Are we aware of Ahkaamur Raa' in our daily recitation? Have we ever heard of the term Istitolah, Hams, Itbaaq, Isti'laa..??
SubhaanaLLAH...
U all may not understand what i'm talking about...
So here i am, with 2 Qur'an teachers, both teaching me to recite the Quran with proper tajweed.
However...
Moga pemergian sheikh semakin menyemarakkan semangat kami untuk terus hidupkan generasi Al-Qur'an yang membaca secara tartiil, menghafal, serta mengamalkan akhlak Al-Qur'an...

Eclipses
Narrated Abu Masud:
The Prophet said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death of someone from the people but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. When you see them stand up and pray." Muslim
Narrated 'Aisha:
(the wife of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) In the lifetime of the Prophet the sun eclipsed and he went to the Mosque and the people aligned behind him. He said the Takbir (starting the prayer) and prolonged the recitation (from the Quran) and then said Takbir and performed a prolonged bowing; then he (lifted his head and) said, "Sami allahu liman hamidah" (Allah heard him who sent his praises to Him). He then did not prostrate but stood up and recited a prolonged recitation which was shorter than the first recitation. He again said Takbir and then bowed a prolonged bowing but shorter than the first one and then said, "Sami 'a-l-lahu Lyman hamidah Rabbana walak-lhamd, (Allah heard him who sent his praises to Him. O our Sustainer! All the praises are for You)" and then prostrated and did the same in the second Raka; thus he completed four bowing and four prostrations. The sun (eclipse) had cleared before he finished the prayer. (After the prayer) he stood up, glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and then said, "The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of the death or the life (i.e. birth) of someone. When you see them make haste for the prayer." Narrated Az-Zuhri: I said to 'Ursa, "When the sun eclipsed at Medina your brother ('Abdullah bin Az-Zubair) offered only a two-Rakat prayer like that of the morning (Fajr) prayer." 'Ursa replied, "Yes, for he missed the Prophet's tradition (concerning this matter)." Muslim

Dalam derita ada bahagia
Dalam gembira mungkin terselit duka
Tak siapa tahu
Tak siapa pinta ujian bertamu
Bibir mudah mengucap SABAR
Tapi hatilah yang remuk menderita
Insan memandang
Mempunyai berbagai tafsiran
Segala TAKDIR
Terimalah dengan hati terbuka
Walau terseksa ada HIKMAHNYA
Harus ada rasa BERSYUKUR
Di setiap kali ujian menjelma
Itu jelasnya membuktikan
ALLAH mengasihimu setiap masa
Diuji tahap keimanan
Sedangkan ramai terbiar dilalaikan
Hanya yang TERPILIH sahaja
Antara berjuta mendapat rahmatNya
ALLAH rindu mendengarkan
Rintihanmu berpanjangan
Bersyukurlah dan tabahlah menghadapi
c/o
Segala TAKDIR
Terimalah dengan hati terbuka
Walau terseksa ada HIKMAHNYA
repeat c/o 2x
ALLAH rindu mendengarkan
Rintihanmu berpanjangan
BERSYUKURLAH dan TABAHLAH menghadapi
Segala ujian diberi
MAKA BERSYUKURLAH SELALU~

Siapa? Ah, angkat je lah.
Hello, assalamualaikum?
Hello. Hello? wa'alaikum salam. Huda...rindu tak?
Hmm.. korang boleh agak kan reaction aku? Macam nak ketawa, macam nak nangis pun ada. Sesak dada dan nafas bila dengar suara diorang.Gembira macam nak pekik sampai satu blok dengar..Aisshh.. soalan apa yang dorang tanya ni. Tak masuk akal betul la. Mestila rindu!!
In short, huda is really AMAZED at you guys.
*two thumbs UP!!*
Cuma jihad kita tu kurang sikit je berbanding mereka yang kat luar sana..hehe.. Whatever it is, don't give up in doing your best! You've made the scarifice to be where you want to be, so don't give up too fast.
Nurulhuda.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh!
Hey friends, hows everyone doin?
Hope everyone is in the BEST state of Iman, Health, Happiness and Istiqamah in studies.
If anyone is still having ongg exams, ALL THE BEST! Make your efforts count in the eyes of ALLAH, amiin.
I’d like to share how studying in syria has boost my increasing love, respect, appreciation etc to the Perfect, the Kindest and Most Influential man on this earth… and that would be our Prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him…
I used to study siratunnabi in a care-less attitude; I listen to unispiring lectures about Prophet Peace Be Upon Him, make notes about him and memorize his biodata to pass exams…
However, now…
Listening , studying about him and his many sacrifices for his ummah and future ummah retold by my brilliant anisah(what we call ustazah here)can make me shed tears on how beautiful he was as a human being, saviour to humankind and his humbleness regardless his position in this world and the hereafter… who are we if compared to him? So why do we boast? Why are we sometimes so full of ourselves…?
One example of his beautiful behaviour, is written in the song ‘Don’t Talk To Me About Muhammad’ by Dawud Warnsby Ali. A popular pastime for Sg students here is also to read the ‘ Qasidah BURDAH’; a 160 bait poem by Imam Saalih Sharafuddin Abu Abdullah Muhd Bin Hasan Al-Busairi who composed it expressing the grandeur and excellence of our Prophet Peace Be Upon Him. For the translation of the qasidah: www. Alinaam.org.za
It is always important to understand what we learn or read to fully appreciate something, no?
There are so many other aspects of the Prophet that one can learn from and a MUSLIM should study and exemplify them so as to be successful ,not only in Dunya Fana but Akhirat Kholidah most importantly.
His diplomacy with other races, his mercy, his kindness, his intelligence, his ascetism(zuhud), his fairness, his time-management, his discipline, his leadership and so on that if ANY muslim were to follow passionately and sincerely, surely he would feel at peace with himself and the world.
A true mu’min is not then until, he loves Allah and His Rasul more than himself. That he loves his brothers more than himself. He sacrifices for Allah and his Rasul…He is in constant awareness about his place in this world which is temporary. The world and all its sweetness can delude us, and as humans, we tend to forget, we tend to take things for granted, we tend to sway…
One way to get back to being a better improving proactive Muslim is to remember our Prophet Peace Be Upon Him.Take insights and lessons from his glorious history. Stop being passive. It’s high time we apply what we’ve studied about our beloved Prohet Peace Be Upon Him, about Islam and put words into action in each day of our lives. No holidays here ok?Hee.
It’s of absolute waste study high high but no positive change for the better. At least try, and seek help from Him the Almighty.
Thus, I remind myself firstly and others. And Allah knows Best.

Bak kata 'Adilah kepada semua...
-SALAM PEPERIKSAAN-
hehe.. ucapan selamat buat semua yang sedang demam imtihan buat masa ni. ALLAH yassir umuurana jamii'an, insya ALLAH.

ok.. beginilah pemandangan damsyiq. Pusing 360degrees, nampak gunung-ganang sana sini... Gunung ni semua macam bodyguard melindungi kotanya dari dicerobohi musuh. hee. Rasanya, kota haramain pun ada banyak gunung-ganang sekelilingnya kan? betul tak? maaf kalau tersalah fakta.. :)
Jihaaaad! Sampai sakit2 semua kerana tak biasa... Bersyukurlah sebab salji tahun ni tak turun di kawasan rumah kami, hanya turun di kawasan tertentu sahaja... AlhamduLILLAH.
ok.. sekarang pula, kami berada dalam musim bunga~ spring :) musim segar... musim peperiksaan! lalala.. ;)
ahh~ busra! saya suka tempat ni :) tempat ni penuhhh dengan kesan sejarah. Ok, untuk pengetahuan semua, kawasan ni adalah kawasan perdagangan orang-orang dahulu.. seperti yang kita dah belajar dalam sirah, Rasul Sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam pernah pergi berdagang di syam menemani pakciknya Abu Talib ketika Baginda berumur 13 tahun.. Ah, ni lah dia kawasan perdagangan tu.. :)
Still recall the story everyone? ;)
okay.. ni dah takde kene-mengena dengan sejarah islam. hehe... ni sekolah saya; Mujamma' Sheikh Ahmad Kuftaro, much more known as Abu Nour~ :)
Ahah, tengok gambar sekolah je, teringat periksa esok hari.. Maka sampai sini sajalah entry saya pada hari ni. Insya ALLAH, lain kali post lagi k.. Insya ALLAH.
Jaga diri semua.. Jangan lupa untuk saling mendoakan :)
